Staff Glance Solutions
Staff Glance helps larger organizations arrange employees in a Department Tree, group or filter the availability board by department, and optionally restrict visibility and management actions through configured department scope.
Department Setup lets an organization build a hierarchy, assign employees, define a primary department, and configure department-specific status rules. An employee can belong to multiple departments while retaining one primary department.
The board can use department information for grouping and filtering, helping viewers move through a larger roster without changing the employee availability workflow.
Controls structured membership, the Department Tree, primary departments, and department-specific status rules.
Separately controls who can see whom and when department-scoped Manager and Department Admin operations apply.
When Department Visibility is off, the active employee roster remains company-wide even if structured departments are configured.
When Department Visibility is enabled, Staff Glance uses the hierarchy and assigned scope to calculate who appears on the board. Organization Admins can see the company roster. Other users see themselves and employees in departments they are authorized to view; unassigned employees are not broadly exposed.
The same visibility model also applies to relevant availability access such as Calendar Snapshot. The exact result depends on company configuration, employee memberships, assigned role scopes, and hierarchy.
Has company-wide administrative access, including all departments, company settings, integrations, and billing. Only this role can enable or disable Department Visibility.
Administers assigned department branches and descendants when Visibility is enabled. This is scoped authority, not company-wide administration.
Manages users within assigned departments and descendants when Visibility is enabled. A Manager does not automatically administer every department.
Uses Staff Glance within applicable visibility rules and updates their own status and profile information.
Department membership describes where an employee belongs. Manager and Department Admin scope describes where that person has authority. A user's primary department or additional memberships do not automatically grant management permission.
Yes. Staff Glance supports multiple department memberships and one primary department.
When enabled, it scopes who users can see according to the hierarchy and assigned access. Department Setup by itself does not restrict the company-wide roster.
No. With Department Visibility enabled, Manager authority applies to explicitly assigned departments and their descendants. Managers follow company-wide permissions when Department Visibility is disabled.
No. A Department Admin operates within assigned department branches. Company settings, integrations, billing, and organization-wide Visibility controls belong to the organization Admin role.
