Staff Glance vs Simple In/Out
Compare Microsoft Teams presence, selected-group and profile synchronization, geofencing and desktop automation, dedicated apps, notifications, time reports, and fixed-tier pricing.
Product comparisons
The right employee availability software depends on how people update their status, which integrations matter, how much reporting is needed, and which devices the team uses. These evidence-based comparisons explain those differences without declaring a universal winner.

Every product here supports a shared status board, but automation differs. Staff Glance can use configured Microsoft Teams presence and work location. When Teams Sense is configured, calendar meetings and Microsoft Out-of-Office events can influence Teams presence/OOO signals that indirectly update Staff Glance status. Simple In/Out also documents geofences, Wi-Fi, beacons, desktop activity, and scheduled statuses. InOutBoard documents direct calendar-driven changes. StaffStatus emphasizes fast manual updates.
Separate a Teams tab from presence synchronization, SSO, user provisioning, profile-field mapping, and calendar visibility. Staff Glance's Calendar Snapshot is a separate display-only view; calendar-influenced status changes occur indirectly through Teams presence when Teams Sense is configured. Teams is not required for the core board.
Filters organize a board, while visibility rules determine who is allowed to see or manage whom. Staff Glance documents hierarchy, multiple memberships, a primary department, and optional scoped visibility. Do not assume another product has the same model merely because it supports departments or groups.
Check layouts, columns, grouping, wall-display behavior, public links, native apps, desktop agents, PWA installation, and Teams access separately. A responsive website or installable PWA is not the same as a native mobile application.
Staff Glance provides basic administrator-only availability and first-check-in reporting after collection is enabled. It does not calculate payroll hours. Simple In/Out and InOutBoard publicly document more time-oriented reports.
Compare the cheapest tier that holds the required employee count and the features you need. Fixed tiers can leave unused capacity, and SSO or notification requirements may force a higher plan even when a cheaper tier has enough seats.
After comparing in/out boards, these are the three differences that most often help teams choose Staff Glance.
Optional Entra SSO, selected-group user and profile-attribute sync, Teams presence and work location, and a Teams personal tab. The core board does not require Teams.
Organize people in a department tree with multiple memberships, a primary department, and optional scoped visibility so managers and department admins see the people they are responsible for.
A permanent free plan for up to five users, then published monthly tiers at $10, $20, $30, and $50. Paid plans include a 30-day trial with no card required.
