Staff Glance Solutions

Employee Availability and Status Visibility

Staff Glance helps office, hybrid, and remote teams see who is available, away, remote, or out. Employees share useful status information on one board so coworkers can find the right person without interrupting everyone to ask.

What is employee availability visibility?

Employee availability visibility means giving coworkers a clear, shared view of whether someone is currently in the office, working remotely, temporarily away, in a meeting, or out. It is practical coordination information, not a measure of productivity or attendance.

Staff Glance places that information on a digital staff status board. The visible roster follows company settings, the viewer's department membership, and assigned permissions. When Department Visibility is enabled, a viewer may see authorized department members or only themselves rather than an entire department.

How availability appears on the board

Clear employee status

See statuses such as In Office, Remote, Away, In Meeting, On Break, Out of Office, On Vacation, and Out Sick.

Useful organization details

Department and location information help distinguish employees and make larger rosters easier to navigate.

Flexible presentation

Choose Card, Table, or Pill layout, then group or filter by status, department, or location.

Find the right employee with less interruption

Before sending a message or walking across the office, employees can check the board for current context. Managers can use the same view to coordinate coverage and locate available staff within the people they are authorized to see.

Availability is intentionally straightforward. Staff Glance does not provide GPS tracking, productivity scoring, automatic attendance enforcement, or time-clock functionality.

Manual updates first, optional automation when configured

Every organization can use Staff Glance through employee status updates. Employees can normally update themselves. When Admin Lockable Statuses is enabled, an authorized Company Admin or Department Admin can lock an employee's status, preventing self-service and Manager changes until an authorized administrator unlocks it. Updates for another person depend on the permissions Staff Glance returns for that viewer.

Microsoft capabilities are optional and separate. Teams Sense can poll Microsoft Teams presence after an administrator completes SSO, permission, and integration setup. Calendar Snapshot and the Staff Glance Teams App have their own setup and behavior; enabling one does not automatically enable the others.

Who benefits from shared availability?

Employees

Check coworker status before reaching out and keep personal availability current.

Managers

Coordinate people within assigned scope without relying on a separate spreadsheet or physical board.

Multi-department organizations

Use department organization and optional visibility controls to make larger rosters understandable.

Employee availability FAQ

How does Staff Glance show employee availability?

It shows employees and current statuses on a shared board. Card, Table, and Pill layouts and grouping/filtering controls help viewers locate people.

Does Staff Glance automatically update statuses from Teams?

Only when an organization separately configures and enables Teams Sense. It polls Microsoft Graph on a schedule, about once per minute by default, rather than receiving instant Teams push events.

Does Staff Glance track employee location?

No. Staff Glance is not GPS tracking, a time clock, attendance enforcement, or productivity monitoring. It displays status and configured workplace information supplied through Staff Glance or optional integrations.
